I'll start by saying I have been with auto club for close to forty years, and my father was also with them for longer than that, and he was with there sister company the Canadian Auto Club before that. So you can see there is a long history between my family and the auto club, (I didn't even count my brother and other family members.) Recently my wife was involved in a traffic collision, she was side swiped and run into a mountain side. The other party did not stop until much further down the road and it was only due to the help of a concerned motorist who gave her a ride that my wife caught the other driver. After making contact with the other driver, he said he did not she her and said prove I did it. Yet he gave my wife his name a fake License number and invalid insurance info. After getting to an area were my wife got cell service she called the Highway Patrol to file a report. She gave the officer all the information that she got from the other driver. From this point on everything went down hill. The CHP to the best of my knwolege did not even do any thing but a phone interview, witch I find almost unbelieveble. I worked alot of traffic as a peace officer and never herd of such a thing.By the way the other driver gave my wife his contact number, why would he do that if he was not in an accident? Through this mess auto club never called never sent out adjusters, all contact except for 2 phone calls was done by me. And when I left messeges they would not call back I would have to keep calling and get lucky if they answered the phone. The real kicker here is that I have full coverage on all my cars and my policy states that if I get the other drivers information and he is uninsured the deductible is waived. Well the auto club called and talk to this guy, who told them he was not giving up any info. And that was that, auto club said OK and made me Pay. So it seems if you deal with the auto club and you have the bad luck of a collision even if it's not your fault, if the other party says take a hike to acsc they just stick it to you and take the side of the other driver. I they do stuff like this to long time customers what are they doing to the new ones??? BEFORE YOU GO WITH AUTO CLUB YOU MIGHT WANT TO SHOP BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ON YOUR SIDE. If i'm going to be treated like i just got there i can go anywhere.
