From April until October, Citifinancial Mortgage incorrectly reported our mortgage 30 days late. During this time period I sent 14 faxes, 7 registered letters and 6 overnight letters with documentation indicating that their position was incorrect. The information was ignored, and often I listened to abusive criticism about my requests for them to look into the matter. We came within a few days of foreclosure several times, and one month we actually had to make two payments in order to prevent them from going through with their threats.
The matter was mysteriously resolved in October, when I finally reported Citifinancial to the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commission in Austin and hired an attorney to prepare to file a wrongful foreclosure suit. They have apologized and have agreed to reimburse me for a portion of the costs I incurred to protect my interest. Unfortunately, I am still very angry over the way my wife and I were treated by their abusive and unprofessional collection representatives.
