Capital One Prepaid Mastercard is ABSOLUTELY the WORST Prepaid card you can get. They False Advertise on their website - Dont be Duped into their Deceitful tactics.
Here is a LIST of reasons why -
LIE #1 Website says "SIGNING UP IS FAST & EASY"
I signed up for it and set up direct deposit through my work. I had everything ready to go through my payroll office. It was Payday and I went to login to my account and I couldnt Log-in. So I called them and Couldnt get through to anyone due to the fact that they FROZE my account. I couldnt even get through on the menus without having to wait at least 10 minutes and go through multiple people to get to the right department. Well they said they FROZE my account because I needed to Fax in a copy of my Drivers license and a utility bill which I promptly did. After I faxed it in it STILL TOOK Over 7 DAYS to get UNFROZE WHICH by THEN my Paycheck got rejected and sent Back to my employer who's payroll dept is in a totally DIFFERENT STATE, So then they had to issue me a NEW Check and Then I had to WAIT for another week to get paid. My advice to Capital One Prepaid - PUT A DISCLAIMER on your website saying that Verification of new accounts may take up to 10 days!!! And you MAY NOT Receive your Paychecks! FAST & EASY??? I dont think so!
LIE #2 Website says "ACCESS YOUR PAYCHECKS FASTER" "Direct Deposit your paychecks - get faster access to your money"
After my account became "Unfroze" My direct deposits finally went through. EVERY BANK or OTHER PREPAID ACCOUNT the Money GOES IN ON PAYDAY for me its every OTHER FRIDAY! Not with capital one prepaid however! They manually enter direct deposits so instead of me waking up with my paycheck in my account, I HAVE TO WAIT almost ALL DAY until 5:00 PM Not KNOWING WHEN MY MONEY will become available. How is this Accessing my paycheck faster? I couldve driven to the bank 10 Times and cashed my Check 50 times by the time I got my check, As i write this its 1:00 in the afternoon and its my PAYDAY BUT GUESS WHAT? NO MONEY on my card yet! Other Prepaid cards the money goes on RIGHT AWAY but NOT Capitalone Prepaid. LIES LIES LIES.
LIE #3 They make it seem that they are a good deal.
Capital one CHARGES $4.95 a month which they are the ONLY company to do so so basically you are paying $60 a Year to use a service that you can get for FREE from the Walmart Moneycard, Netspend Card, Accountnow Card, Rush Card etc. Most of them waive the fees if you deposit a certain amt of $/per month NOT CAPITAL ONE.
Also Capitalone Charges $2.00 EVERYTIME you call Customer Service - EVEN if its THEIR FAULT Most places dont charge over $1.00 IF ANYTHING. ALSO some prepaid cards waive 2-5 ATM Fees per month - NOT CAPITAL ONE. They charge you $2.00 EVERYTIME you put your card into a machine, even to just check your balance. So if you figure you are paying $4.95/mo Plus $2.00 per ATM transaction and say you go at LEAST 1 time a week, and maybe 1 or 2 calls to Customer service you are looking at a WHOPPING $16.00 A MONTH when you can GET ALL OF THE ABOVE FOR FREE! Or LESS!
My advice - STEER CLEAR From these Clowns. They are a joke Their website is terrible. Go with Accountnow, Netspend or Walmart where you have more Deposit Options via Greendot or even at the counter at Wal-mart.
