UCB has been calling and harassing my eighty-year parents in Indiana over a "debt" that my parents have absolutely NOTHING to do with. I have not lived with my parents for more than 30 years, and yet this company has been calling them repeatedly, even though their number is registered on the National Do Not Call Registry. My parents live in Indiana, and I live in North Carolina, but UCB seems to think that it's just fine to call and harass a couple of innocent elderly people over something that has nothing to do with them.
UCB has also barraged my home phone, filling up my voicemail, and they repeatedly called me at work, at an UNPUBLISHED number, which I never gave to ANYONE at any credit card company. We are not supposed to receive personal calls at work, so I never give that number out. When they called, I disconnected the phone until they stopped calling, which took months.
I don't know WHAT underhanded, sneaky methods they have used to get that number or my parents' number, but I suspect that they have engaged in illegal activities to do it. I KNOW they have engaged in illegal activities in calling my parents, and I plan to report them to the NC Attorney General because of that. I will probably have to report them to the Indiana Attorney General as well, since that is where my parents reside.
I know that they use different phone numbers from which they make their calls, and some of them show up on my caller ID as "unknown caller", "no name", "no caller ID", etc. They also have about 6 or 7 different numbers that HAVE shown up on the caller ID, so there's no telling the size of the army of people they have out there harassing people.
I told UCB's "Shirley" today that if they call my parents one more time, they will be reported for violating the Do Not Call Registry rules, which means they will be fined $1000 per call. I am reporting them anyway, just because the way they operate, they probably don't think I'm serious, but they will find out just how wrong they are. If more people will do this, at least maybe UCB will stop calling innocent people who don't have a thing to do with any collection account. From reading other peoples' reports, I see that this seems to be a common practice for them. I'm going to do my best to stop them.
