Mutual Benefit
Ripoff collects payment doesnt pay off claims huntington pennsylvania

October 23 at approx 8A.M. My employer informed me he was contacted I think by police department that my home was on fire.By the time I got home, the house was burning at the foundation.

We lot, that is not where my problem ended. After, I realized everyone was safe and we got out wits about us I contacted my insurance company. Thats where the problem started. I purchased my home owner s policy thru Maryland Independent Insurance Group, but, my insurance carrier was the above mentioned Mutual Benefit.

That is where my problem beginsIf it wasnt the goodness of the American Red Cross and friends not sure where we would have spent the first few nights. After 3 days we received a check from Mutual Benefit for $1500 for "emergency" use.

I believe it was the fourth day I contacted the insurance company hereafter known as "carrier". I asked when could we begin trhe rebuild process? They informed me call a few contractors and get bids. I told them wife and I both work, we are in a motel and it would be easier to just call a few contractors that they have already used. So, they agreed. Then enters G.A.B. Robins, independent adjustors for the "carrier". They want to meet, ok no problem.

I call the recommended contractor he returns my call, asks if I know how much insurance I have, I tell him NO. He informs he how much insurance I am carrying, later, I realize, hmmmmmmmmmmm wonder how he knows how much insurance I carry???
So, the contractor comes out I draw a floor plan, he starts crunching numbers. Then the insurance adjustor shows up. Now let me set the scene for you. We live out in the country. We live of a gravel 2 lane road approximatey 1/2 mile long, coming in off the main highway are approximately 7 moble homes amd numerous older "farm houses" then you come to my driveway which is approximately 800' long.

My home was built in 1996 so it wasnt that old, and passed my driveway are some newer homes that have been recently built. Anyway the first thing out of the adjustors mouth is "Ya know when people have a fire like this everything in the house was new "???
My wife went ballistic.

Told him the house was only 5 years old, we have young kids almost everything was new. He got away from my wife real fast. As we were talking about replacement I mentioned I lost quite a few thousand dollars in software. Ha asked why did I have that much computer software, I told him I had 3 computers, he ran basck to car got camera out wanted to photo the computers, or maybe I should saycomputer shells He told us we had 90 days to get together a personal loss list, which #1 was a lie. Then contractor came over told us he could rebuild the house for the $164,000 from the foundation uphmmmmmmmmmmm kinda strange, thats exactly how much insurance we had.

I asked him did that include replacing the deck I put on. His response was "Dont think so "
Anway getting back to adjustor, he informed us to not "nickel-dime" him round the numbers off. I told him some of the things I had owned for over 30 years, not antiques just memorabilia. His response was "guesstimate the value"

So 2 months later enters William Parler attorney at law. Am contacted by Parler attorney for Mutual Benefit. He informs me that myself wife and 2 children have to come to his office and give an examination under oath. I try and get some answers from him and he tells me he doesnt have to answer any of my questions. Well, being slightly naive, we go to the EUO and he informs me that I cannot go into the examination with my children both, minors.
This guy had me in his office for almost 10 hours ask me everything from the birth of Christ to the death of the Devil most of it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the fire.

Now we are coming up to April. After the increased burden of paying an apartment rent and furniture rent, normal bills, car, mortgage, etc were being paid late. WE are evicted from apartment because rent is consistently late. WE receive notice that MUTUAL BENEFIT of HUNTINGTON PENNSLYVANIA is denying our claim???

Fraud

FRAUD, you ask??? Yes fraud. It seems that back in the early 90's wife and I split up, like we have 2 children, I gave wife the house and everything that was in it. I took my clothes, my tools and moved out, and gave her $500 a month support, becase she worked made almost as much as I did, tried to keep it amicable. Well after a few months we realized how stupid it was for us to have split up so I moved back home.in the mid 90's Found ourselves in financial straights due to my work and had to file a Chapter16 basnkruptcy "reorganization of debts" I claimed I think $30,000 of "personal property" This where MUTUAL BENEFIT OF HUNTINGTON, PA AND WILLIAM PARLER decided I commited FRAUD

Now remember, the fire I had was a total loss, at the time myself, wife son, daughter, grandson. Lived at the home, my mother in law moved out about 2 weeks prior to fire guess she couldnt handle my grandson's noises. But there were 6 peoples belongings in the home. The personal loss list we gave the adjustor came up to $120,000

It seems like the attorney and the carrier didnt realize the bankruptcy, was strictly for me, no one else. But there were 6 people living in the house at the time.
Now comes time for legal action on my part, this I blame on WILLIAM PARLER ATTORNEY AT LAW.

My attorney has shown me papers where it has taken Parler, months instead of weeks to get information on my case.

And has had to complain to the courts, to get the necessary information. Hopefully this night mare will end soon Because it has dragged out all too long
O, I tried contacting every agency I could but ya know what I got

Na da
So, in closing a few bits of information
#1 Photograph and or electronically file everything you own
#2Make sure of your policy limits, I didnt
#3God forbid, if you do have a fire, contact your attorney as soon as possible, dont trust the insurance companies
