Ripoff business from hell, a credit repair agency took my money & didn't pay off my debt, charged for services never rendered!

This is a credit repair agency. I signed a contract with NWCC in July. They were to help me update and/or delete incorrect or outdated items on my credit reports, from all three major bureau's, (Trans Union, Experian & Equifax).

At the end of July, a NWCC rep contacted me & said she was working out a settlement agreement with one of my creditors, & to mail a money order for 50% of my debt plus a 10% fee to NWCC for working it out. I sent the money as I was told, got a copy of a letter from NWCC to my creditor stating that they had the settlement money "in house" and would disperse as soon as my creditor verified the debt. That was the last I heard of that particular issue.

I was under tremendous emotional stress the summer of suffering from major depression, lost my job, etc., and not paying attention to the credit bureau updates I was getting in the mail. I was just faxing them to NWCC as they came in.

Well, in the spring of I began to get somewhat emotionally healthy again, and began to pay close attention to my credit reports. I discovered that the debt in question was still showing a balance due. I began to question the credit repair company if the debt was ever paid or not, or was it just being reported incorrectly. I tried for 6 weeks to get a straight answer from those people and I finally had to call my creditor myself to find out that no, the debt was never paid, my creditor refused to accept a settlement, the credit repair company never informed me of this, deposited my money order in their bank account & never made any effort to return the money to me.

Even after I provided them documents proving I was in the right & demanded a refund, they wouldn't return numerous calls, (over 25 in 6 weeks), or respond to several faxed letters, transfered my from one person to another, made one excuse after another, hung up on me more than once, and outright lied to me more than once.

While all this was going on, I also investigated my "progress reports" from these people, comparing them to the bureau updates I had received and discovered I had been overcharged for services and in some cases, charged to remove items from bureau's that the items were never on in the first place, as well as charged for removing items that I had removed myself!

Needless to say, this company took my app. Fee, downpayment, and automatically debited my checking account each month, until their total was paid in full, for the last year. Now that I know they owe me a refund of over $1200 they refuse to return my calls, or respond to my faxed letters of demand.

I have already filed complaints with the FTC (Federal Trade Commision), the BBB of Springfield, MO, and am about to file complaints with the Attorney General's Office of Jefferson City, MO, as well as Governor's Office Of Consumer Affairs of GA.

Oh, and to top it off, I did some internet research on NWCC and found out that they have been sued before. I got the actual Court Docket Sheet, (which is public information) over the net and contacted the attorney that represented the plaintiffs. He told me that he has another case pending against them right now! In July!!

I am considering filing a law suit of my own. I found a law firm on the internet that helps victimized consumers, sometimes for FREE or on a contingency basis. Hope this info helps someone else out there to know you are not alone and there are ways to fight back, you just have to know where to go, know where to look, and if you know you are right, stand up for your rights & don't give up!
