My husband was in his own small business when the economy started to take a downfall. The first 6 months were not too bad but our income was diminishing. We had our two babies at this time and were struggling to make ends meat. We defaulted on one payment and I called WellsFargo Home Mortgage to see if there was anything we could do to work things out...
The lady I talked to reassured me this was happening to everyone and that they would work with us on a loan modification. I was excite dot hear this. She clued me in and said that while they were in the works on the loan modification, it would be optional to make my monthly payments.in other words if I could not afford them, skip them and pay other necessary bills first and all WellsFargo would do was put the unpaid payments at the end of our new loan. So, I got off the phone feeling hopeful, faxed over to them immediately all my income sheets, my expenses, hardship letter and whatever else they wanted. It was 45 pages long... I waited a week like I was told and called in... I was told that "We are in the process of reviewing your paperwork, please allow another 5-7 days for an answer"... It was the beginning of a LONG process...
I waited nearly two months for an answer of "I am sorry Ms.""" but you were denied. Please feel free to reapply..." and so I did... I waited another two months calling every friday until I get this one guy who threatened me and said I was in foreclosure... (hadn't received any paperwork saying so at that time)... And I panicked... And asked him why when I was told that while they were reviewing my application that everything woudl freeze... He laughed at me and told me that I could make half payments or whatever I could come up with for now and I would not lose my house... Then he asked me to wait and came back on the line and said that it looked like I didn't even apply for loan modification the second time... And I was furious! He told me to reapply again... So in panic I faxed over 45 pages once more to the bank... And called my husband crying...
At that time it started to feel like I was being pulled around... I reapplied for a 3rd time, after months of this BS, and I called every Friday for the same answer "we are still reviewing, please call back in 5-7 days"... And then one day I got the foreclosure letter and auction date... I had 3 months... I was making whatever payments to WF to save my house... So I didn't understand why I got this letter... So I called iin again... Got a woman on the phone that told me that they did not receive any of my payments (which was BS because it came out of my account) and she check my status on my loan modification and said that it looked like I did not even apply! (AGAIN~Seriously?)... I lost it at that moment... With two screaming babies on my hip, I started screaming at her asking her to put on a manager and I was furious! I talked to a "manager" and she said that she would immediately mail me a promise letter stating that I could make half my mortgage payments and they would review in 6 months... She said review it to make sure it was right and to sign it and immediately mail it back to WF... I hung up feeling better...
Two weeks later... Still no contract that she promised me would be rushed... And I was getting closer and closer to the auction date... I went to a local WF mortgage lender and tried to work something out with her, but of course she couldn't do anything I had to call a 800 number... And then one day my husband and I decided to visit and BK lawyer and decided to move back home to the east coast with my mom, days before our auction date.
Believe it or not, I have been getting many calls from WF wanting to work with me NOW and they even have pushed off the auction date 3 times to try and work this out! Those jerks put me and my family through the ringer... Almost costing me a divorce in the process and I had to leave our home, move our kids across the country because I thought there was no hope and NOW they want to work with us... And I shoudl believe them because of why??? I am beyond furious that there is nothing we can do about all this!
