I just thought everyone should know before going and buying a Green Dot prepaid credit card.
I went to a local store and purchased a card, so I could pay some of my bills with this, and not accually giving out my Bank Account #'s over the phone. I had no trouble purchasing the card, and the gentalman at the store was a great help.
I came home and followed all the directions on the back of my card, and giving out my ssn, and DOB to verify my ID
I tried one week later to use this card and it was declined. I called the customer service and tried to find out why this was accuring, being they already had my $250. The lady proceeded to tell me that My ID did not match. Well this is the same # i have had since i was born, and after checking to check to make sure my ID wasnt stolen, (thank goodness it wasnt), they proceeded to keep telling the same thing.
After debating who i was over the phone with these people. They agreed to refund my money, despite i needed that money right away, it would take 2 days to process the refund, and another 3 days to send it FedEx it to me.
Now, past the time i was to recieve the check, I try to call customer service again, entering all the cute little prompts, and the card #. All i could get is the refund processed, and will be recieved in 15 day. Well, trying again, i could not get past this computer recording. So now they have blocked me out from speaking to a real person, for the phone # on thier wedsite is the only one on the card, and all that is listed for them anywhere on the internet.
Do not use this company. They make it look so easy on tv, and over the phone to set it up, but when it comes down to it. Even if you can prove who you are, and give them accurate information, there customer service really does not care.
They could not send me a letter, or call the # i provided, they could just hold the money till i complained, and then play little games, to take there time to give you a refund. I am still waiting for my check, and cant speak with a real person, and out the $250 i put on the card, plus the $6 i paid to purchase the worthless piece of plastic
