I received a telephone call from a Mike Thompson rep. #1010 on April 28 at around 7pm. I was told that I was guaranteed a credit card with a $5,000.00 credit line.
I felt this was too good to be true, so I asked the rep how much do this cost and he told me nothing, not one penny. So then he proceeded to ask me the name of my bank and I gave it to him, then he read me back the routing number to my bank and then he proceeded to ask me for my checking number. I asked him why did he need my checking account number if this cost me nothing and then he told me that there is a $239.95 one-time processing fee.
Right then and there I should have hung up on him but I didn't and I gave him my checking account number anyways. Then I told him that I didn't have the money in my account at this time and he told me that they wouldn't debit my account until May 8.
So, after they debited my account I called them about 5 times trying to cancel this transaction. I was told I had to wait until I received the package before I could cancel the account.
So when I received the package I called and talk to a young gentleman who told me that I would have to fax the statement from my bank showing that they debited this amount from my account and a copy of the check. So I faxed them the items they requested and I called to see if they received the fax and the lady that I talked to told me that I would have to send back the package before the accounting dept would refund me a check.
So, I went to the post office the same day and returned the package certified mail, so that if they say they never received this package back I could take them to small claims court. So I'm waiting to see the outcome of this whole mess and because of them I do not answer any unknown callers.
