Fairbanks Capital purchased our loan from Equicredit approximately 1 1/2 years ago. When we were with Equicredit, we were current and had no problems. When Fairbanks tooe over, we started to be billed for two payments. When we phoned, we were told we were behind. I sent proof of payments and they to this day insist we are behind.
Now they are charging exorbitant late fees. They refuse to take over the phone payments for one payment saying they must have both and all late fees. When I send a check, however, they cash it. On numerous occasions we have been sent notices saying we do not have homw owners and they will add on insurance if we do not supply proof. We have never had a lapse in our coverage.
When we were with Equicredit, we never received a loan package. To this day, we do not have a completed loan package. We have requested one from Fairbanks but to no avail. Also, Fairbanks has "lost" in excess of $1,300 of our escrow money. We have escrowed since we purchased our home and we were sending in the payment plus escrow. We never had our insurance paid or our taxes. Thank goodness our insurance agent notified us of the non payment and we were able to pay with no lapse in coverage. Now Fairbanks can not find our money. On our statements we had shown $546.00 in suspense and now that money has also disappeared.
They do not return phone calls nor do they respond to letters. We have tried on numerous occasions to contact them and this just seems to be impossible. When you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone, they claim there are no notes on the computer and they have no idea what you are talking about. We receive letters stating we are going to loose our home, we get notes on the front door of our home saying they have come to see us concerning an important issue. When they come by, we don't answer the door.
