Failure to provide services promised and did not refund my money as promised

A year ago, I was contacted by Omega Debt. They promised they could lower the interest rates on my credit cards. If they could not save me $2500, I would get a full refund. Well, after they made a few half-hearted attempts at calling my credit card companies, I realized they were going to do nothing for me, so I asked for a refund. I was told they had a year to make it happen (this was the first I heard of the year time-line).

I waited the year and called them, asking when my credit card would be credited. After calling 5 times in 2 weeks, with always a promise that they would call me back in "72 hours" "by the end of today" "in five minutes", I finally demanded that they let me talk to the supervisor.

She told me that their company did not charge my account, that it was the company who called me. She pretended to want to help me and called my credit card company, to see if she could find out who made the charge. Well, my VISA's computers were down, so she said she would call me back in 2 hours. After 3 1/2 hours, she did call me back. She was so surprised that indeed, Omega Debt did make the charge to my account. Actually, she was dumbfounded. She was also surprised to find out that while I was waiting for her to call me, I called the credit card co. Myself and talked to the dispute department. Once she found out it was in dispute, her helpful, condescending manner changed and she was angry with me, stating, "Good luck getting your money back. If you would have done it my way, I would have helped you. This conversation is over!"

Be very careful of this company. I read another person at a different website who had a similar experience, but his card was charged by a different company. They must have changed their practices since they ripped me off. Also, in their logo, they show a cross with a halo on it where the "T" in debt is. Do not trust them. They are not Christians and are out to take your money. They almost got $797 out of me and $900 out of the other guy.

It is pretty sad that there are vultures out there who prey on people who, out of necessity, just to make ends meet, find themselves in debt up to their eyeballs. I wonder how they sleep at night.
