We are wanting to refinance our home and just yesterday filled out an online form for info on rates, etc. The site said we would receive a call within 24 hours from 3 agents.
Today my husband received a call from what sounded like an East Indian man with a heavy accent, who said he was calling about our loan application.
He proceeded to ask for all our personal info, including SS# & DOB which my husband gladly gave him!:- (But then he said something about how much money did we want for our auto loan! When we said we had not applied for an auto loan he said "Sorry to bother you!" and hung up.
I tried to call back, but got only 2 options, neither of which I wanted and no response, even after pressing them.
I've traced the phone number to Auto Loan Network and I filed a Fraud Alert on our credit reports. I believe the website that got us in trouble was www.theeasyloansite.com which was the only one I filled out.
I learned my lesson! Don't ever go to a website to enter your SS# or other private info, even if it looks legit! Just because it's on Google doesn't mean it's legit either!
