I was contacted by a "Sarah Shields" of "JM Mutual Insurance", first by phone, and she asked for my email address after stating she received my job resume. As I have been applying for multiple jobs, I gave her the email without further thought. I then received an email from her stating I had to apply online. Her email is sarah. [email protected] and the website was http://www.jmmutualinsurance.com. Again, I entered my information. Next, I received another email saying I was being offered an admin job, but I first had to pass the online interview.
At this point, I Googled the company name, the phone number, and her email address, and found NOTHING, except that the domain name for the company was only recently acquired in March. Next, I called Sarah Shields at 866-991-3747 Ext # 712. I gave her my name, and she seemed happy to talk to me. I then asked her what "JM Mutual Insurance" stands for. At this point she asked to put me on hold. However, I was not on hold, as I could hear her fumbling around. She then came back and said, sorry, she had another call. (no she didn't). I again asked her for the company name, and location, as I am in TX and she is in Florida. She said, oh, "let me have the HR department get back to you". I replied, "It says you ARE the HR department on your email" to which she said, "Uh, no, Sarah and the HR department are out to lunch, they will call you back in 30 minutes". However, it was 3pm in Florida. When I questioned her about why she answered the phone stating she is "Sarah Shields" she said, "No, I am the receptionist". None of this makes any sense. I then told her to remove all of my information from her database and not contact me again.
Next, I went back to the website, which on a second look, has no real information. Although a map shows many locations nation wide, you cannot click on the links to find addresses. Only one phone number for the company is provided. Googling provided no results anywhere for JM Mutual.
Lastly, I called the phone number back, but this time pressed the number for the "Insurance Quotes" line. After about 5 seconds of background music, a recorder stated I should leave a message as all representatives are busy.
I am not sure if this is an attempt at an identity scam or what, but something is SERIOUSLY wrong with this "company" and "Sarah Shields".
