Lost/Stolen Monery Orde

I went into Uneeda Check Cashing at 1:30 p. M to purchase six money orders amounting to $2757.00. I stood at the window and filled out the money orders that were given to me. When I finished I place them in my purse and left. A few minutes later, I realized I was only given five money orders although I had a receipt for six. A money order for $500 was missing. I went back and the cashier insisted I had dropped it and someone had tried to cash it in. She told me her manager said it was my fault and there was nothing she could do to help me. When I requested the money order number so I could place a stop payment, she insisted that there is a policy in force that does not permit them to give out the money order numbers. When I asked for the name of manager she said she did not know his last name. I know I never received the money order. Western Union says I must fill out a form, have it notarized and then wait approximately 30 days. Is there another recourse for insisting to see the ledger for the money orders that I purchased since they are in sequence?
