Nov. 2007: Signed up for a Gold Option Line of Credit w / BoA. (MISTAKE!!!)
Apr.'08: Enrolled in their direct debit program.
Sept.'08: I rec'd a call from BoA rep that my Sept payment was late! Was told that it was thier "glitch" and I would not be penalized at all.
Nov 20: rec'd a letter stating my acct was closed due to payment activity.
January '09: I call BoA and was reassued several times by a rep that paymnt was rec'd and all was fine. 4 days later, I get a call about my payment being late! Anger ensues. Explained situation to rep, was told I would not incur fees.
February '09: statement received reflecting fees that I wasn't supposed to incur. Noticed min. Pymt went up by $60 and asked why, Gold Option Credit rep tells me my APR was increased to 19.99%! (even tho acct is closed). Asked why I wasn't informed. "It was in your orginal member agreement". I expressed my disgust & was told "Well maybe you should take your account to another company" (there's that A customer service!)
March '09: begrudgingly write to BoA for "reconsideration" attached letter from my bank stating acct balance for dates in question. Letter was "never received".
Early April '09: cancel direct debit program but was told 4/30 payment would still be automatic.
April '09: resend letter from March. I await a reply.
Today (5/1/09) call re: April payment not coming out of account, am told that it was canceled and the 30th was not pending, I need to send payment - complete opposite of what I was told early April '09.
Overall - COMPLETELY DISGUSTED! And one short step away from getting an attorney.
*KEY ADVICE* There are 13 call centers for BoA. BE SURE TO ASK WHAT CALL CENTER YOU HAVE REACHED.
I have a file 3 inches thick, letters, copies of statements, logs of all calls made. Its getting to the point where I won't be able to afford the payments.
Can ANYONE help the consumers?!
