I applied for as Chase Credit Card at Toys R Us in Woodbridge VA to receive a 10 percent discount on a product I was Purchasing. After the clerk processed the transaction the request for credit came back denied. I thought that was kind of strange because I know I have outstanding credit.
About a week later I received a letter from Chase Bank indicating my request was denied because my Credit report shows current/past bankruptcy, charge off, public record. The Chase reference number is 090405505136. The letter stated their credit decision was base whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the comsumerrporting agency Equifax P.O. Box 740241 Atlanta, GA 30374-0241,800-685-1111 Equifax.com/fcra.
I immediately logged on to Equifax web site and down loaded a copy of my credit report. No where in the credit report was there mention of any bankruptcy or any other derogatory information.
As I said above I have outstanding credit and have definetely never filed bankruptcy. I am just curious to how this happened and have noticed similar reports filed by other consumers against Chase Banks.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
