I went to Debt Settlement USA in January. I lost my job in December. After seeing their ad on TV I called to inquire. They called me incessantly to "help" me get set up in their system and for them to acquire my bank account number for their fee.
Since then I have not heard from them. I call every week or two and am told excuse after excuse. I have received the funds from my tax return to settle a month ago, I told Debt Settlement and they did nothing for me.
Today March 25 one of my credit cards told me Debt Settlement USA hasn't even contacted them and I have now been referred to a collection agency, and was given an 800 number.
I now have an appointment with a lawyer which is what I should have done to begin with. I'm out $850.00 for the 3 months of fees to Debt Settlement. So realistically I'm worse off than I started.
Please do your homework, don't get taken in like I did. This company preys on honest people trying to get back on track.
