I was searching for a non-secured personal loan about 1-2 months ago. I came across this web site (Lender Referral Services) who claimed to be able to provide me with a number of qualified lenders that will provide me with up to $25k in unsecured loans. It claimed all i had to have was a credit score over 575. Mine at the time was 685 (I had just had it run by a mortgage broker since i was applying for home loans). I have a significant income (over $300k last year). If ANYONE should have been able to qualify for these loans it should have been me. They provided me with 5 sources to apply to.
The first two didn't loan in my state (i actually have homes in two states - California and Nevada) and niether of them worked. The next one required collateral in the form of an automobile. The web site clearly states that "no collateral is necessary". The last two denied my loan application. When i requested a refund of my $69.99 fee, the guy that responded ended up getting belligerent to the point where he threatened to have his lawyer file a liable suit, when i started to call him a ripoff. Of course i knew that was ridiculous. Anyway, i filed a claim with paypal that did no good (I'll NEVER use paypal again for any transaction outside of ebay) and he knew it would do no good, which is why he uses paypal. I also filed a complaint with the BBB and a fraud unit for internet fraud (I forgot the name) but haven't heard from either.
Anyway, the person or person (s) that run the scam website are ripping people off every day. Most likely the people being ripped off are of course the ones that are most desperate. Luckily i just needed some extra working capital
