I received a call from this company back in Jan of 09. They said that they had a bad check for me and that I need to pay it. I told them to send me paperwork on it. He said that it was sent two years ago by them and by Inger (?) Law Offices. I NEVER received anything from anyone. Pretty sure this is a scam. They asked me if I had been contacted by the warrant department. I havent been. I assume this is just a scare tatic.
I called the DA and they dont have any warrants for me. She also told me that the DA is the only person who can issue a warrant and that a collection agency cant.
I then received another call from Ms Chambers on the 15th of February. She said that the check was from several years ago and gave me a check number. That is all that she would give me. Oh, she also said that the name of the company I wrote the check to was SUC, on 12-31-05 or 04 (I have NEVER heard of them.) I called my bank and they had no idea what this lady was talking about. Ms Chambers refused to send me any kind of info.
A couple of weeks later I got a letter in the mail stating that I had to pay $216 for a bad check. There was no info on the letter as far as the check number, who it was written to, when, etc. I called and again tried to get more info. They gave me a check number, and a date (12-22-05/a diifferent date than what the other lady told me-the check number doesnt coinside with the date of when other checks around that number cleared, about a 2 year time difference. I told the lady to send me proof of the check being returned and she refused. She said that I would get proof when I was taken to court. I told her that she was violating fair debt collection laws. She didnt agree. I decided to file a report with the BBB today to see if they would be able to force them to send me info.
This company has several other complaints as far as not sending proof, etc. I highly recommend looking into this company before you pay them anything.
