Pursuing debt paid in 2004

I have faxed and emailed the canceled check paid back in 2004 to the company, Verizon, but Palisades is reporting this debt every two weeks to my credit report. I recently sent them a certified letter with a copy of the canceled check and they continue to file negative false claims on my credit report.
