This company is attempting to collect $211.00 from me that was turned over to them by AT&T wireless dating back to 1999.in 1999 I called AT&T & asked them for the date my contract would end. On the date they specified, I called & cancelled my account with them. They then sent me a bill for a $211.00 cancellation fee, which I disputed at the time & which I still dispute. I wrote them and asked them for a copy of the contract (I had moved & did not have a copy) which showed that I had cancelled prior to the cancellation date of my contract.
My request was ignored. This debt has been passed to several different collection companys in the past few years & I have requested a copy of the contract from each & every one of them. On October 14 I sent a letter to Palisades Collection requesting a copy of the contract, telling them that if they can provide me a copy of it, and if they are correct, I will pay the cancellation fee, even though I called in advance to find out my cancellation date & cancelled on the date I was given by AT&T Wireless. I also pointed out to them, that they had changed the date of the item to when in fact it stems from 1999.
It seems like they are doing this so they keep trying to ruin my credit for that much longer. I also wrote a letter to Experian to dispute the item. I received from Experian notice that they have verified this debt with Palisades & that it is valid, but Palisades refuses to acknowledge my request for a copy of the contract. It is against the law for them to knowingly report incorrect informaiton to a credit report agency, but they and AT&T Wireless have not conscience at all about doing it.
In case anyone from Palisades bothers to read this, I just want you to know that I am going to turn this over to my attorney & request him to file suit. My file is fully documented & I have had it with you guys & AT&T. If I owed this debt, I'd have paid it like I have paid all my other debts. If you were smart enough to take a look at my credit report, you'd see line after line of "pays satisfactory", "never late". I am not paying this debt because I don't owe it. If you still think I do, then prove it & I will pay it.
