Free Credit Report.com Or CIC Triple Advantage
Misleading terms and conditions lead to a $14.95 monthly fee under a different company name. California

The freecreditreport.com website uses misleading marketing and confusing terms and conditions.initially, a free credit report is to be supplied, but it is difficult to figure out how to obtain it for free. I agreed to a $30 fee to get all 3 reports in one. This was given and I was satisfied with the product, however, not satisfied with the price. Immediately, I noticed a $14.95 fee that was charged to my credit card under the name CIC Triple Advantage. I had no idea what it was and assumed it was related to another purchase. The next month, there was another fee of $14.95 charged to my credit card under the name CIC Triple Advantage. I researched the company name on the internet and found it was a related company to freecreditreport.com. This fee was not clearly defined in the terms and conditions upfront. I went back to my freecreditreport.com account and re-read the terms and conditions, still no specific information was provided regarding the $14.95 fee or the company "CIC Triple Advantage". I called the number supplied with my credit card statement, 877-4816825, on Feb 1. The operator was very difficult to understand due to a heavy accent. She repeatedly asked me canned questions regarding whether I was happy with my account. I said no, and insisted for a full refund of the two $14.95 fees. She offered to cancel my membership several times. I insisted on a full refund and threatened to turn the matter over to the Better Business Bureau and my state's attorney general's office. She then placed me on hold saying she had to speak to her supervisor. Once off hold, she said I would receive a confirmation e-mail confirming my accounts cancellation and my two $14.95 fees would be refunded. I repeated the agreement and then had her confirm that she agreed it would be done. I shortly received an e-mail confirming my membership cancellation. The funds were credited to my credit card the next day. Though the company refunded my money, this should not have happened in the first place. It took some investigation and much persistence to get my money back. They are taking advantage of consumers with misleading ads and sneaky terms and conditions. I will certainly pay more attention to terms and conditions in the future.
