Complaint Description:
In the middle of june I applied for a major credit card, the next day I received a call from Platinum Advantage telling me that I had been approved (they must have a way to know who has applied for a credit card) they led me to believe that it was a major credit card with a high limit of 2500 dollars and a low interest rate of 8%.
I agreed to transfer 200.00 from my checking account that same day. I immediately went to their website and found out that it was a catalog company! I called them and asked if they reported to the credit bureaus, they informed me that they did not.
I declined the offer and asked for a refund. They informed me that it would take a few days to process but that my money would be refunded and credited to my account.
After several days without being contacted or getting my money back I called them and they said that there was no record of me asking for a refund! So I went ahead and told them to refund my money and to make a record of it. Several e-mails and calls went unanswered since no one called me back or e-mailed me.
It appears that I was just ignored until time went by so they can claim, by the wording on their contract, that there is no refund.
They just stalled so they can claim that they sent you some vouchers (which I never received). After sending them another E-mail last month I received a letter stating that no refund was available for me.
I did some research and found that this company is a total fraud. They are doing this to many people and getting away with it. I am filing a complaint with the Department of justice, Pinellas county, consumer services.
If there is a class action suit against these people I would like to join.
