These people seem to be in the business to defraud any person who is afraid to stand up to them or are so disorganized that they can't verify what they paid to them. I am not one of these types of people
My daughter had to close her bank account because someone has stolen her debit card back in Sept 08. Only one check didn't clear her account before she closed it and it was sent to Credit Bureau of Eastern Idaho for collection.
On October 30th I wrote a check out of my corporate account to pay this check off for my daughter. I sent it to the company via their P.O. Box myself so I know exactly what happened. I wrote my daughter's account number on the check and sent them a copy of their own letter so that they could make sure to credit her account correctly.
Two and a half weeks later, my daughter received another collection letter. I called CBEI and spoke to Janelle. She told me they had never received the first check and to "stop payment on the check" and issued them a new check. She also told me that she would watch out for the new check and call me when they had received it. I never received any calls to this day.
So, I contacted my bank and paid an additional $15.00 to stop payment on the first check. Then I issued a new check. I verified the address and mailed it to Credit Bureau of Eastern Idaho on November 20.
I continued to watch my bank account and once again noticed that they had not presented the check to my bank for payment. So last week on Sunday Dec 14, I called and left a message for Janelle telling her that I had not seen the check being presented to my bank and that I would not do another stop payment or issue another check. I asked for a call back and never received one.
So toady (Dec 26th) I receive a letter to my business from CBEI stating that they were trying to collect from me $53.40 for the check they supposedly did not receive!
I have called and left them a message and now I am in the process of filing reports with the State Attorney General, our local Better Business Bureau and my attorney. Do not send these people money through the mail. If you can't go to their office in person and get a receipt then don't do business with them at all!!
