Homecomings Financial and their crooked business tactics with changing ARM rates and increased principal amounts make it impossible for a home buyer to ever pay off a loan. After the first two years of on-time payments, I now owe more than when the loan started.
After my home was devalued by $100,000 from a 2006 sale price of $212,000, Homecomings Financial took 5 months to enact a loan modification I had paid a private company to negotiate while accepting my payments and placing them into a slush fund while continuing to send me past due notices and collection letters. I believe that my biggest mistake was paying $65,000 downpayment on the original loan with no idea that this company would purchase my loan from Equifirst after only my first two months. The vicious and deceptive tactics of Homecomings Financial to force me into foreclosure, thereby enabling them to steal my $65k downpayment, have been astounding.
I have sent complaint reports to both the Attorney General of Arizona and the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions with no results as yet. The Attorney General did not even acknowledge receipt of the letter.
With the loan modification supposedly now in effect (no documents were ever sent), Homecomings Financial has now sent me a letter stating that my new principal balance has now increased to $164,207.90, an increase of over $7000 prior to the loan modification. These people are relentless and totally unscupulous, a total affront to the principles of honest home lenders.
