Homeq
Totally dishonest, Totally unethical, Totally a RIP OFF!

Wanted to add my agreement with those who have already reported Homeq as a RIP OFF!

We were very pleased with The Money Store when we signed our contract with them and they were consistently helpful, courteous and respectful - regardless of the circumstances presented.

Then, unfortunately, our loan was sold to Homeq. I must add to what has already been said about the harrassing phone calls made to customers by Homeq. We have received such calls when our payment was not yet due! We also received harrassing and threatening phone calls saying that our homeowners insurance had not been paid when, in fact, it was paid and in effect at all times.

Homeq then instated what they called an escrow account (which they said was included in our contract - it was not!) and attempted to charge us for insurance that they *arranged*. Our payments were put *on hold* (even though the checks were cased and they had received the money) and not credited to our account - they said because the amount we sent only covered the monthly payment and not the insurance!

During this time they were *holding* our payments with applying them, they also charged us late fees which they have yet to remove from our account even though they agreed to do so when our insurance agent faxed proof of insurance (which he did 3 times before they actually accepted the fact that we did have insurance).

Let's not forget that prepayment penalty (supposed to be 2% of the unpaid balance) - but call for a payoff and you'll find that they'll add several thousand dollars in various fees if you attempt to pay off your loan early.

Check with the BBB and you'll find that there are numerous complaints about them there as well - and that they have not been satisfactorily handled.

It's easy to see by the responses entered here by Homeq employees that this is a totally unethical company who have obviously not taught their employees the art of being a *professional* in their interactions with their customers. It also appears that most of them haven't been taught proper grammar, spelling or punctuation!

Cursing people, calling them names, harrassing and threatening them is NOT going to make someone pay a debt - and it is a violation of their consumer rights! Don't tell me this is what I get when I don't pay my bills - this happened when my account was current!
