Care Credit / GE Money
Poor Business Practices

I enrolled in Care Credit because I, like millions of Americans, am without health care. My dentist accepted the credit company, so I began using them for my medical bills. My credit limit was $3000, more than I could foresee even needing, and after a few months I had only charged a little over $300. Last week I received a letter in the mail from Care Credit stating that because of a recent inquiry into my credit they were dropping my credit limit from $3000 to $700. Being that I have great credit, I was immediately concerned over this and pulled my credit report. I found that there was an error on my report and I immediately disputed it with Equifax, which they corrected a few days later.

Relieved to have corrected the error, I called Care Credit to have my credit re-evaluated to increase my limit back to what I had previously had. First of all, talk about a run around! When I finally was able to speak to a person she told me that every account was reviewed every 30 days and that I should wait for the problem to correct itself. I wouldn't take this for an answer, and she transferred me to the credit department. I explained the situation to the man whom I was transferred to and he began to tell me how it was impossible to increase my credit limit without a brand new application. WHAT?! I explained again that the credit limit basis was based on inaccurate information and I wanted another review. This was, of course, impossible.

Bottom line: Care Credit / GE Money refuses to increase my credit limit to what it was before even though they were so quick to reduce it based on faulty information.in order for me to increase my limit I'd have to re-apply and fill out new paperwork. I don't understand why I'd even have to re-apply. They have my credit report and all my information for heaven's sake! So, I'm paying off what little I owe and closing my account. I refuse to be treated as an inconvenience even though I'm the customer.

If you're thinking of using them, think again. They have poor business practices and policies that hurt those who work hard for their money. They railroad the public because of what a large company they are, and I'd stay clear away.
