So I applied for this job online because it looked like a good deal for me as I was looking for something to do until I got a real job. The description called for recent college grads for several "assist. Manager" trainee positions and promised paid training and so on. I got a call from their office only a couple hours after I applied which would have seemed strange but for the fact that I was dazzled at the idea of actually having work. They told me to come in for an interview. So I did, and I found that the interview was strangely short and my interviewer seemed to have no interest in my qualifications nor in elaborating on what I would be doing as an assistant manager trainee.
Despite the warning signs I went in for a second interview which involved job shadowing one of the assistant managers for a day. I quickly realized that all we were doing was going from business to business and trying to sell phone and internet service packages. At the end of the day they brought me back to the office gave me my final interview where they asked me when I could start. I told them I would need time to think about it, at which point they seemed to get somewhat upset and told me that once they offer someone a job, and I'm not making this up, they "get so excited about their new team member that they just want them to start right away." Needless to say I didn't accept the job, and afterward I discovered and reflected upon some pretty disturbing things:
1) In the interview and on the website they claim to be a national company, but on the website they only list one address, one phone number, and one email address. Trust me, I looked online for any other contact info and there was none.
2) The website doesn't really offer any information for any company interested in using their services. The only email address they give is their "HR" email address.
3) Everyone I saw and/or talked to at the office was either a manager, assistant manager, or was interviewing for the same job I was. So who are they managing? Each other? It doesn't really add up.
4) I talked to some friends who had nearly identical experiences in which they were offered the ability to be "fast-tracked" straight to management within a few months, just like I was. Different company name, exact same bull.
5) There was only one computer in the entire office! There were like ten people in business suits crowded around it too. That just seems weird to me.
So this is obviously just another MLM scam, and I thought you should know.
