I experienced rude phone calls in February from a company called CBE Group, that has the wrong Social Security Number associated with my name. My Human Resources Dept was very helpful in stopping the calls.
Now six months later, the Van Ru people are calling about the same thing. The first person who called (Eric Smith) was very rude and insisted that he could do nothing to put information in the record to show that I am not the person they are looking for. I refused to give my Social Security number to him, and he insisted that only Human Resources or Payroll could clear up the problem. When I asked for an email or fax to verify who he was, he refused and continued to say only Payroll or Human Resources could help. I transferred him to Payroll, and they also said he was rude and insisted that they give him personal information about me over the phone.
Today I received a second call (from an office in Wisconsin), and this person was very polite, immediately accepted my explanation, and said he could delete my particular information from the file.
Why could one person delete incorrect information while another refused to do so? I am really worried about my name turning up in various federal databases as someone who owes the government money!
