I messed up on my Sept. Payment and sent $223 instead of $233, the minimum due on my BofA statement. A simple mistake, was not concentrating on what I was doing. Didn't realize mistake until the end of Sept. When Oct. Statement arrived. It showed a late fee of $39 and default rate of 29%. Statement also showed that Sept. Payment was recieved 8 days before due date. BofA had ample time to inform me of short payment but wanted to wait until after due date to attach fees and high rate to my account.
Been with BofA for years, never late, never short. I called customer service to get the situation fixed, asking "Why would I intentionally short a $200 payment by $10". Customer service rep was very understanding and tried to get charges reversed, but had to ask his supervisor. Supervisor would not allow the rep to fix this. So this supervisor has decided to charge off 10000 because of $10. Yes it's a charge off because BofA will not get another penny from me. They will pester me about it for a while then have to charge it off. I will pay the collection agency when they contact me, but as long as it's not going to BofA, I'M HAPPY.
