Do not deal with this company! It is just legal enough not to be a scam!
Like many people I know, I do not have perfect credit. I have no repossessions and have never filed bankruptcy but I have made late payments which have brough my credit score down. I found a website on-line and applied for a personal loan. I wasn't expecting much. I thought I may get a bite or two, but with a very high interest rate but it wouldn't cost me anything to try, right?
I received a call from Don Mills at Charterstone Financial who told me I could get $5000 at 6% for a term of 36 months. It was through a private lender who was requiring 6 months payment up front as collateral. I was not surprised, I realize I am a high risk client when it comes to extending credit. As it happened, I had just been paid and could afford to send them $910 since they would deposit $5000, guaranteed, in 1 business day to my checking account. I went to my bank, withdrew all my money, went to Wal Mart and sent the money to Nicole Brooks in Alberta Canada.
The next day I got a call from Michael Power at Charterstone who said there was a problem and they now needed 6 more months of payments. I have cancelled the loan and ask for my money back. Of course, it will take 30 days for them to refund me the money. It's not a scam if I do get my money back, which remains to be seen. I can't believe this has happened to me. I am a reasonably intelligent person, or so I thought.
