Complaint / Review
Guaranty Bank, Morgan Financial Trust
Cash winning scam, Consumer Survey Commission, enclosed check

I received an envelope from Canada, no return address. Enclosed is a letter from Morgan Financial Group, and a check in the amount of $4200.00 USD.

The letter claimed there is a trust fund in the amount of 65,500 USD from a random survey conducted last year. There were numerous spelling and grammatical errors throughout the letter. It basically states that the check is to cover processing fees in order to release the rest of the money.

Clearly, although I did not call the provided number to get details, I am expected to cash this check and send the money to a person or persons unknown. Sure thing.

For anyone who does not know about this type of scam, the idea is that by the time the bank realizes that the check is no good, I have already sent the money to the recipient, and unfortunately, the only one held accountable for the fraud is the person who cashed the check.

I'm sure these people are quite successful in their enterprise. As nice as it sounds to suddenly be handed a windfall, as per usual, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. And if somebody claims to be holding a great deal of money for you, you need to question why they need money FROM you.
