THE EMAIL I SENT TO THE MAIN BRANCH OF MIDFIRST BANK IN OKLAHOMA CITY:
*Note: This person, Monica, forwarded the email to local branch president, Gary Beach. His response will follow at the end.

TO MIDFIRST BANK:
This is now the absolute FINAL straw. At no time, according to the online records, was my account in default. It only became this way when you started charging me these completely BOGUS overdraft fees. I am now completely disgusted with the entire situation. Totally. I have now sought legal advice about how things are done at MidFirst. I have put up with this sort of thing for way too long now, but I will no more.

I have not been back to MidFirst Bank here since the incident at the drive-thru. I am now making my deposits via the night drop box. I will never again go personally to the bank... Be it the drive-thru or inside.

On this particular day, Mr. Beach decided to approach me while at the drive-thru window. He felt it was okay to announce my PERSONAL bank business over the intercom system. There were other cars there and they could hear everything that Mr. Beach was saying, and this was just too much for me. I know for a fact others could hear what he was saying. I have not been back to the bank since. The employees inside the drive-thru area were hearing my personal business and I could tell they were unhappy with me probably about my email [which I am guessing more than just Mr. Beach read]. An employee from the drive-thru area had to have gone to tell Mr. Beach that I was there because otherwise, he would not have appeared there to confront me and make my personal business public. This was absolutely not right at all. He has a computer, and should have answered my email or even asked me to come in to the bank, and NOT confronted me at the drive-thru window. My 14 year old daughter was in the car with me at the time, and I don't usually involve her in these matters. It was embarrassing and absolutely humiliating to have my personal business discussed in front of not just strangers, but my 14 year old as well. I know the other employees there that day seemed upset with me, I suppose for making a complaint, that they didn't say another word to me once my business was done. Not even "have a nice day."

Now this bank is charging me over 300 dollars in overdraft fees that should have never happened. These are completely bogus!!! My account should have never been this way. You are stealing my money and this time I will not put up with it. There was enough money in the account to cover each and every one of my checks and check card purchases. But, you have once again figured a way to make them bounce.

Mr. Beach also lied when he said that my TOTALLY FREE checking account was only changed to a PERFORMANCE CHECKING account a year ago. This is completely FALSE and he knows it. It has been OVER THREE YEARS; more like FIVE or SIX since this was done. I had been asking all those years why this account was changed without my approval and never received an answer. Never. Even Mr. Beach at the drive-thru that afternoon said he wasn't sure why it had been changed, but it was only done a year ago. LIE! I have been charged 5 dollars a month for AT LEAST the last five years and wrongly done so.

As far as I am concerned I am owed ALL THE OVERDRAFT FEES. As of this morning there are ELEVEN overdraft fees. That's 27.50 x 11 for a total of 302.50. I also, because I have been lied to want the return of the money taken from me for the last FIVE years for the bogus 5 dollar fees charged to my account, for an account switch that neither ME or my husband EVER approved. This was done by the bank without our knowledge or approval. 5 dollars x 60 months, for a total of 300 dollars. I am requesting from you a total of 602.50 to be returned to me. After what this bank has done to me, that's definitely not asking for much.

I have been done wrong AGAIN, and I am tired of it. I work hard for my money and I don't like it when I am cheated out of it. I have definitely been cheated. Not only cheated but embarrassed and humiliated beyond words due to Mr. Beach's actions. So much so, that I no longer go to the bank during the hours that it's opened. Never again will I. Especially when I know that my PERSONAL BUSINESS will be discussed via the intercom system at the drive-thru for everyone to hear. All I wanted to do was get out of there. The person from the car to my right was looking at me, and my daughter was looking at me. It was just too much.

This is not the first time my personal business has been discussed via the intercom for all to hear. BUT IT WILL BE THE LAST!

I will be doing my personal banking at another bank. I am not at all certain that there is such a thing as an HONEST bank, but there has got to be something better than MIDFIRST that's for sure.

Mary,
I received you e-mail and I regret that you are unhappy with your MidFirst account. I certainly apologize for hurting your feelings with our conversation at the drive through and not asking you to come inside the bank. My intent was to let you know I had received your e-mail and was researching your issue with the account type change. I did not intend to disclose any confidential information. You are correct that I had discussed the e-mail complaint with my staff, I always do to see if they have had any feedback from the customer. They were certainly not upset with you and in fact had stated that you were always very pleasant in the drive through as they waited on you.

The balance that you see when you are online reviewing your account history is your ledger balance. This is your running balance as transactions that you have done come in and post to your account. The balance that determines whether an item is insufficient or not is your available balance, which is your ledger balance minus any authorized transactions that we have not received and posted to your account. On your ledger balance you see that you ended with a balance of $ on July 18th. You also had a deposit on Monday the 21st for $ and as such your ledger balance did not reflect a negative balance. However, there were four authorized Visa Check Card transactions processed on July 17th and 18th which were also out of your available balance that pays items.

MY REPLY TO GARY BEACH:
None of this makes any difference to me. Absolutely no apology can make up for how I was made to feel. You did not "hurt my feelings", Mr. Beach... You humiliated me. There is a difference between the two. I will continue to put my deposits in the night deposit until I open a new account at another bank, which will hopefully be very soon. Because of MidFirst I am put in yet ANOTHER financial nightmare. I will never again go to MidFirst bank to make deposits, withdraws, etc. There was no need to explain to me my account. I know what I have and what I put in there. I know what I spent. I knew what my balance was. There is no explanation needed. Your ledgers make no never mind to me. It's just a banks way of covering things up. I go by what I see online, not what I cannot see. My checkbook was exactly as it was online, without all your bogus overdraft fees.

Yes, I am usually a very pleasant person UNTIL I have been treated badly and wrongly. That's exactly what happened that day and on other occasions. Until now, I have just let it go, but I cannot this time. This occasion was just too much for me. I do not discuss my personal business with anyone at that bank. It is only non-personal things. I would not tell anyone there anything concerning my private life, etc. It is you and one other individual that have chose to discuss my personal business via the drive-thru intercom system. There will no other in person conversations. Not ever. As I said, I will never again set foot inside or at the drive-thru during banking hours.

You will notice that gary beach never answered my complaints concerning the change in my account without my permission. He also did not answer my complaint about his lying to me concerning the change in the account without permission.

Mr. Beach has never answered this reply and i don't expect him to. He knows i have been ripped off by the bogus overdraft fees. I have the copies of my account ledger via the internet bank site and it proves, as far as i am concerned that i am right.

They refuse to give me back the money they stole from me.

People need to stay far away from midfirst bank; be it here in altus or anywhere else in the united states.
