As soon as my bank notified me of my negative checking account, I began to investigate as to why. It turns out that ConsumerBill.com had helped themselves to my checking account in the amount of $19.95. My bank was able to provide me with a number to this company and I began trying to get in touch with them to find out what the charge was for and why.
Three telephone numbers later... (866) 364-9088, (888) 433-4096, (702) 989-8968... I could not get a real person on the phone so, I finally went to their website (ConsumerBill.com) which was provided on one of the numbers. I went on their live chat and got absolutely no where with this lady that I was chatting with. I asked her a couple of times what the company was, and how and why they thought that they had the authorization to use my checking account.
She never once gave me a straight answer and then asked me for my checking account num. So she could look something up and see if I had an account with this company I knew nothing about. Seriously I said no, you have already taken money out of my account and I'm not about to hand you my checking account info. So you can do it again! Somehow she gives me an account number that sure enough is mine? I asked her how she even got that in the first place... Again no straight answer. How suprising!
After a minute of cooling off and trying my hardest not to throw my computer throught the window, the thing that I was chatting with provided me with a phone num. She said they had me recorded saying that I authorized the money to be taken out. Ok, really... I had to hear this for myself so we argued back and forth for a min, then she finally gave me this num. To call so I could hear the recording for myself. This is really funny... I call the number and Ahh no answer wow!
So, I still have my chat pulled up so I tell the thing that I am getting no answer and I really want to hear myself telling them to draft the money out of my account. It said to call back, so I did. This time I did get an answer... The male voice that picked up said "Hello" thats how I answer my cell phone to talk to my friends! You do not answer a business call in that manner.
To me it sounded like an old guy sitting in his garage getting hammered and trying to scam people! There were all kinds of crazy noises in the background... He was definately not anywhere near a real office! I asked to hear my recording... He played it to me. However, it was me just stating my address for a different payday loan company. That phone call had nothing to do with him or his stupid scam.
I never got the loan because I decided that it was just a bad idea, I never gave the company any of my checking account info either. Then, I asked him how he got my checking account info. From my address on a recording? He said that I provided it on the tape. I asked to hear that part because seriously I'm not stupid and I would never tell a recording over the phone my acct.info. He said he played it haha!
I heard a bunch of crap in the back ground and he said that we just didn't have a good connection RIGHT! By this point I am pissed. I told him he would be getting a call from my bank because this is fraud, as well as, a call from my attourney. I asked him to verify the number that they would be able to reach him at... He got very defensive at this point. I would to if I were a scam artist!
After this he offers to refund my $19.95.. I said no I'm going to need the $200 in overdraft charges that you created. Well, he said that he is not responsible for the overdraft charges... Anyways! My bank is working very well with me in this situation. I have currently filed a fraud claim. And if it is not resolved this way we will be going to court. This company or whatever it is makes me sick! They only took $20 from me, but they have taken hundreds from others... This has to stop!
