I have had a wamu credit card for several years now. Never been late! For no apparent reason wamu decided that they would raise my apr to 26.69% or give me option to close the account. I have pretty good credit, and for those of you that have good credit you know we dont close an account. It actually lowers your fico score. And since everything is fico driven these days... Why would i in my right mind ever do that??! I have debt like everyone else but i always pay on time, i have paid mortgages and automobiles on my credit there has been no changes to my credit report lately! When i asked customer service rep. Why wamu did this, this was her reponse..."wamu has the right to do whatever they want and it was a business decision" i wasnt satisfied with that so i asked her for a better answer and told her that i felt wamu was ripping me off. She hung up on me... The one thing those customer reps now how to do best! I called back to speak with a supervisor and this was her response..."you were notified by a letter in april of your option was to close the account if you didnt like our changes. The reason to your apr going up to 26.69% (too f* high!) was your credit history!" that does not make any sense because my credit history is great!!! I could understand them doing that if my credit history started to change and i was being late on any credit cards etc... Because its obvious they like to kick you when your down! But that wasnt the case here! So now i am cornered because i am one of few americans that have good credit left so i refuse to close my account and lower my fico score! But now i have to pay an apr of 26.69% on my existing balance. Thank you for ripping me off washington mutual!!
