I had been out of the country since April and just got back July 6th and had electronic auto-pay towards my mortgage on a rental I own. I found out when I got back throught from my county clerks office that MERS paid off my mortgage with Countrywide. I was never notified from either Countrywide or MERS or recieved any letters.
I had also made auto payments online for June and July. The loan was paid off on May 22. I got very angry when I read Naomi's report that MERS is somehow connected with Countrywide. I also did a Google search and found out too many foreclosures and lawsuits with MERS. If MERS is a registration company how come they paid and own my mortgage.in 12 years with Countywide I NEVER missed any payments.
