Mwi Essentials
Ripoff credit card scam

On 10/30/02 I received my credit card statement from AOL Visa and noticed a charge from MWI Essentials for $109.95 made on 10/7/02. I immediately called this company and was told that it was an annual membership fee for a "buying discount club" (or some such wording) as a result of something my wife bought off a TV ad one year ago (they said it was home fitness equipment).

I said I was unaware of anything that we had agreed to join. Neither my wife or I know what the origional purchase was (if there even was an origional purchase). The lady on the phone tried to talk me into keeping the membership and I told her that within 5 minutes of hanging up the call my lawyer would be calling her with a large lawsuit for my trouble. She then agreed to credit my card back, but then tried to sucker me into signing up for another service from them instead. What balls!!!

Needless to say, MWI Essentials did credit my card back on 10/30/02. I reported the incident to AOL Visa immediately as a fraudulant business practice. They were not forthcoming with any information.

This appears to be a complete scam placed on several other peoples credit cards also, and this company needs to be investigated and shut down by the government.
