I have been a Bankatlantic customer for years. I just recently became very involved in my account and began looking at how they debit and credit my account.
I checked my balance yesterday. I was negative $170. $160 of that is fee. That means I was off by $10. And, that's not even correct.
FOr the past month, I logged every purchase and kept a perfect balance. Bankatlantic is very creative as to how they post balances online and how they place "holds" on purchases and how they creatively charge the most expensive items first, so it APPEARS that you are negative, when you are not.
My account showed 5 fees and only 3 things were overdrawn. I spoke to the branch manager (who was actually very nice) and then the national rep via the 800 number. Both were VERY creative and deceptive with their explanations.
Bottom line: I was charged $160 for being $10 overdrawn. When I requested they take off 2 fees, they all declined. I was willing to pay $96 for the $10 overdraft. They wouldn't budge.
