I received a letter saying I had won $200,000.00 in a random computer ballot draw from Wal-mart. It included a check for $4,700.00 and I was told to cash it and call a Jeff Philips (claim agent) at 647-869-2492. I was then supposed to send them $2,980.00 to cover the government/bond fees, and then in a few short days I would recieve the balance of $195,000.00 by fed-ex. The letter was from Staples Corporate Finance, Promotions Divisions at 17 Richmond St. London, Ontario Cananda. H3c-4w7. The check was from Staples Incorporated, 500 Staples DR. P.O. Box 9368 Framingham, MA. 01702. The name of the bank was Fleet Bank 179 Roberts Rd. S. Portland, ME 04106. Thanks to consumer complaints I did not cash the check. I called the bank and they said they had received other similar cases and told me the check was no good. I also went to Wal-Mart and they never heard of this contest. I also took it to my bank and told me I shouldn, t try to cash it because it sounds like a scam. I have now been talking to the police and trying to see if we can catch these people or at least get the word out to other people to protect them. If there is anyone out there who can help try to catch these people, I am more then willing to help in anyway I can. I also hope this information helps other people not to fall for this scam. I can see how it might be easy to do. If you receive anything like this please call the banks 1st or the police.
