Insufficient Fund Fees On A Voided Transaction Refuse To Refund Money BOA strikes again and rips off it's customers

On Friday, May 9 I paid for my daughter's doctors visit with my debit card. They accidentally charged $1,500 instead of $150 BUT voided the transaction in less than one minute. I have both the charge receipt and the voided receipt. They then charged the correct amount. The girl at the doctor's office told me the charge would not go through. I believed her. On Monday I logged onto my account and saw that the $1,500 was debited from my account — as well as the correct $150. I immediately emailed the bank through the customer service link from my account on line and asked them to release the funds, it was a voided transaction. They emailed back and said they couldn't because the transaction was "pending." I then decided to call. The c/s rep couldn't help me but promised to have someone call me back. Needless to say, no one called. I logged onto my account on Tuesday morning and lo & behold, the $1,500 is still debited from my account but now I have a negative balance because legitimate transactions & checks I made over the weekend posted. Guess what... Because they would not release the $1,500 several transactions had an insuffient fund fee — $175 worth. Thank goodness they paid the transactions, but they still charged their fee. To make a long story short... I've called twice more and have emailed them eight times and I get the same story. It was a legitimate transaction — when a charge is put through — whether it is voided or not — the funds are debited from your account. I am furious! The funds are now back in my account — it posted yesterday. How convenient — get as much in fees from the customer and then put their money back. The doctor's office is being accomodating and will issue me a check for the $175, but that's not the point. I want the money back from the bank! Lesson learned — if anything like that should happen again I will have the merchant issue me a refund instead of voiding the transaction. We have another doctor's appointment tomorrow and if BOA doesn't refund my money I will have to get it from the doctor. I shouldn't be out $175 for someone else's mistake.
