Lost Auto Payment, Harrassing (and rude!) Phone Calls

First of all, I had always made my car payments on time. I was never even more than three or four days late. So when Wells Fargo called me in April of this year about having not paid March's payment, I was completely baffled. I thought the issue would be resolved easily, because clearly the March payment had, in fact, been made as could be confirmed by the bank I do all my checking with.

This wasn't the case. Harassing call after harassing call was made to my house, sometimes every hour on the hour. Even faxing my bank statement to them did no good, as they would always seem to lose all of my faxes as well!

When I finally got my money back through my bank, I promptly paid Wells Fargo the double payment that they said I'd owed. Two weeks later I receive another phone call. The payment had not gone through. I double checked my bank account, and indeed they were correct. The payment was rejected by my bank for reasons still unknown to me, and I would have to make it again. At this point, I only had enough of the money left to make a single payment.

I still owe Wells Fargo two auto payments as a result of all of this, and I'm afraid I won't be able to get back on track because of my limited income (I'm a U.S. Servicemember). I've seen many complaints about lost payments with this bank, so I just wanted to get my story out there.

This really seems to be a scam to me. To deliberately put folks in a bad way with them. It's certainly clear that they work in an atmosphere where they are encouraged to be rude, demeaning (one rep. Told me not to blame them for my "problems", when I told him that they had lost my payment), and downright scheming when dealing with customers.

Now that I'm unable to pay, I'm really not sure what to do. I can't help but feel at least partially responsible, but if they had fixed things on their end to begin with, none of this would have ever happened.

I'll be turning over my keys, and living with bad credit for years to come. Thanks Wells Fargo.
