I, too, am having difficulties with Homecomings Financial.in January I began the loan modification process with them. I recieved the documents, signed, and returned them along with the $419 they requested. Shortly after I got a letter stating my payment was late; I called the company and was told that I was not late, the letter was sent because their computers had not been updated with the loan modifications. I was assured several times that my credit would NOT be affected as this would NOT be reported.
I felt a sense of calm!
I sent in my payment due by March 1st, yes they cashed the check, and then I got another delinquent notice. I called again, and was given the same story. I requested that a supervisor or my "loan officer" contact me about this matter, and was told that they would send an email alerting him to contact me. I was also given his direct line, which I called immediately! Got the message, "this person's mailbox is full, you can't leave a message now."
I sent my payment due April 1st, check paid through the bank on March 25th (obviously NOT late)!
Then I got a call saying that they were trying to schedule the loan modification closing. I explained that I had already signed the papers, and they said that more were on the way that I would have to sign them as well. The new docs came Monday March 24th and so did an email from my credit monitoring system; "a change has been posted to your credit report." I checked it out right away, only to discover that my credit score had dropped 150 points!!! Wanna guess why, homecomings reported me DELINQUENT!!!
As you can imagine, I was furious. I called them 4 times that day, sat on hold for the most part and was told there was nothing they could do for me, but my rep would call me back. Ok, because he called me back last time, NOT. To make matters worse, the new loan docs were WRONG, and they were charging me an extra two months of interest along with a LATE FEE! No, I'm not signing those.
I sent emails to the company demanding a return call today or I would file a complaint with the Missouri State Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. No calls, just an email telling me to call them. I filed my complaints! I also sent letters (certified of course) to the AG and BB along with the loan officer, the guy I send my payments to, the home office, and the supervisor!
I recieved a call from the supervisor on March 26th. He tried tricking me into signing the Mod Docs, saying that they'll adjust the late fee AFTER I sign and return the docs. He also promised that AFTER they would delete the negative on my credit. I demanded that he send me new docs to reflect the original interest they were capitalizing and had the late fees removed. His reply, "It's only $174, what do you want US to do just write it off!" Yes, that's exactly what I want, I'm NOT paying for YOUR mistakes! I then informed him of the complaints I had mad, and he agreed to rework the docs and resend them to me!
I would advise anyone dealing with them to take a course of action similar to the one I've taken. I am making myself heard, and no I don't intend to join in on a class action suit! If I'm going to sue these people I will get my own attorney so that I get EVERYTHING I'm entitled to! Class action suits typically only give you pennies on the dollar, and they take away YOUR bargaining power as an individual to allow for bargaining power to the masses. I WANT homecomings to know my name and I want MY voice heard and MY problems fixed.
Just as a side note, at this time, I have NO plans to file a suit against them. I'm going to allow them time to rectify the problems as they have promised, and allow the BB and Attorney General to work for me!
