I have been with BofA for roughly 5 years now. I have watched as they increased their overdraft and various fees. The greatest was how they told me if i had my pay check direct deposited I would not have to pay the monthly maintenance fee of 5.95 every month. Yet I was charged because I still went to the teller and made a couple of other deposits throught the month. What-ever!
Next I enrolled in keep the change. What a mistake that was. You can opt for keep the cange and a savings account online but there is no way to stop the "keep the change" option online. So in other words when money is getting low and you dont want the bank to round the change up to the next whole dollar and then place it in saving where you have little to no access to it, you cannot as simply stop the service as you did start it. It was so hard to tell how much money was left in my account with trying to figure what the bank will round to. This option made my money seem to go twice as fast. Landing me - you guessed it - OVERDRAWN! $35.00-$37.00 at a time.
That money that "keep the change" kept putting in my savings account? Well, I needed that! So I had to transfer it back to checking. The fee for excessive transfers from savings to checking is $3.00. I wonder how many 100,000 people get hit with that fee? I bet it adds up.
Now to today.
I was overdrawn. Again. I should have had one fee. Follow me on this... I had a positive balance of $347.00. I bought a sandwich for $3.62. My rent check went through for $350.00. I knew I would be overdrawn but I was starving. Sorry. The sandwich showed in BofA before the check. The check was pending and the balance was in the negative. I knew the check would cause a fee. They turned around and charged a fee for both the check and sandwich. (-$77.00) off the top of my paycheck.
I was fine with paying for the fee for the check but still had money in the account when I bought the sandwich.
The topper to the day was when I asked them to deny a wire transaction from a cpompany that contacted me that i now am unsure if the really are who the say they were. After they took all those fees I am now looking at beans and ramen for 2 weeks. They want to take $30 dollars just to keep this company from wiping me out.
That's it! I'm DONE!
I took all my money out of the account.
I advise others to be very cautious and use bank as little as possible or not at all.
