My daughter applied for a cash advance on a "Green dot Visa Card" and never heard anything from the company. Now months later, I have a charge for $31.98 on my account. I tried to get them to reverser the charges and they wanted my bank account number and/or social security number to look up my account. Since I didn't provide them that info to start with I would not give it to them. After further check my daughter said that at some point they asked for a cosigner and her mom let her put us down.
As far as I can tell they have never tried to contact or bill my daughter and just arbitrarily took it out of my account.in any case my daughter applied only for the cash advance and did not authorize the purchase of any Identity theft protection products.
When I called them they were not responsive in any way to my request that they reverse the charges and I told them I would just report them to the District Attorney's office in my town. That same day a cash advance of $255.00 showed up in my bank account. I didn't apply for the cash advance so why would they put it in my account instead of my daughters Green Dot account. I think they just decided to try and cover their butt because I reported them to the District Attorney.
If this is intentional it is criminal. If it is unintentional then they are criminally stupid.in any event they are ripping people off.
