Homecomings Financial is the WORST company EVER.
We closed on November 29 and the next day, my real estate agent and title company saw a strange fee in my payoff amount. So I called the next day and asked what this "other fee and cost' was in the amount of $660.89. Nobody knew. The second guy I talked to that day got very mad at me and kept talking over me. He kept saying it was late fees but I kept telling him it wasn't, that my late fees were on another line. He then said to either "accept the fee or put the account under review which will take up to a week and that will hold up my closing and funding and risk me getting charged more late fees." EVEN THOUGH I CLOSED THE DAY BEFORE!
After an HOUR on the phone with him, he finally said he didn't see that fee on his computer! I had the paper in front of me from the title company that clearly stated I paid this in my payoff.
So later that day, I called and got a nice lady who apologized for the guys behavior that I just talked to and said he was obviously mistaken on what happens in this situation. She also could not find that fee any where on her computer. She told me to fax the paper that I had and I did. Well, actually, I had the title company fax it because my copy had notes written on it.
But what do ya know, a week later I called and they said they never received the fax. Of course. I told them I would fax it myself.By the time I acutally got sent a new copy from the title company, I faxed it and they received it.
Not one person I have talked to can tell me what this fee is. One person said it might be attorney fees. Nope. Talked to them and they said it was a fee from the mortgage company.
So as of today, still waiting for them to 'review' this strange charge.
The other thing is EVERY single person I talk to over there tells me something different! Last week when I was calling about my review, I was told in that conversation that there was $724 sitting around and that it looked like it was refund. "What's it from?' I asked.
"Don't know", he says. "It just says the amount."
So a couple days later, I called about the amount again and the lady told me it was still being processed. OKay, I will give it a few more days.
So I called yesterday (January 21) and was told by the rep that the check was SENT OUT IN THE MAIL on January 19! Yay! I thought. Again, I asked, "Where is this money coming from?" "Don't know, doesn't say."
Also, during this conversation, I was told my payoff was a less amount than was paid. That they bloat the amounts to make sure everything is paid. So then I was thinking I was owed more money!
So here I am thinking I'm going to get a nice chunk of change! Nope. Guess what? Called this morning and the lady told me that this money is not a refund and is just waiting to be applied to any fees from closing. I told her the guy yesterday said it was sent on Saturday. She apologized for the misinformation! Can you believe it! I asked her why this guy told me it was sent when it really wasn't. Absolutely awful.
Its amazing that nobody knows anything at the company.
I closed on November 29, the payoff was applied on December 19, and I am still waiting on the taxes that was double paid, plus finding out what that weird charge of $660.89, plus where that $725 was going to end up.
I just can't get over the fact that these reps seem to pull info out of the air and not get in trouble for it.
I am going to file a complaint with everyone I can.
