If you are late on a payment they will call you 5 or 10 times a day & leave messages on your machine. If they do catch you at home & you tell them you already mailed payment - they continue to call until the payment is posted.
After 2 years of this we decided to refinance with a different company. During the closing process we get a payment history & I notice that OCWEN has removed $807.50 from my escrow acct. For forced hazard insurance. I already had insurance with Farmer's. This was in June, I immediately contacted them, had my insurance agent fax them my policy information - not once but 4 times between June & Now.
The new mortgage co. Contacted OCWEN and got a payoff amount. Since we were closing in the middle of the month I did not send OCWEN their payment so the calls began. I must have told 20 different reps. That we were closing on the house & that they would be getting payoff (no one at this bank seems to know what the other person is doing).
We go in & sign all the papers on the closing & sigh a HUGE sigh of relief that we don't have to deal with OCWEN anymore. The next day my new mortgage co. Calls & says that OCWEN won't accept the payoff - they added $10,000 to payoff amount!!!
This changed the whole loan & money that was to be disbursed in the consolidation. We had unbelievable late charges, legal fees & they still have not returned my escrow money.
I called their customer relations once a week - repeated my story to them God only knows how many times & faxed them proof of insurance every other week. I finally had my insurance agent talk to them over the phone. He called me and said "once again I faxed their insurance dept. Proof of insurance - this was the end of August.
OCWEN said it takes a week to 10 days to refund money - I received a check from them for $33! I called and asked where the other $777.50 was and once again they told me they did not have proof that I had insurance.
They took out enough money for insurance to cover the year - the loan was paid off in July & they still don't think I had insurance. Now it is October - Once again they had talked to my insurance agent & now they say I may have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for any refund that I MIGHT be entitled to!
The $807.50 that they took out of my escrow was included in the amount of payoff. I really need some help here! If anyone knows what I can do - please let me know. Now remember, I paid off an OCWEN loan inflated at closing & filled with all kinds of fees & charges - I don't have any money left!!!
What more can we expect from a company where your payment goes to California & customer relations is in Florida!?!?!
