Countrywide charged us 400 dollars and then sent someone to our home to do an appraisal. The appraisal came back at 133,000, which was a little low but understandable with home values changing. Our neighborhood is only 4 years old and all homes were sold for over 120K. Most homes sell from 129 - 139K. Countrywide received the loan and sent it to Landsafe who then changed the home appraisal amount to 120K stating various bogus reasons. The manager at countrywide misled me to believe it was the appraisal company who made the changes and that there was really nothing he could do. They had everything approved and now suddenly we couldn't close because of some desk review. Be careful when using this company, They took all the money we had and ripped us off.
