As of Christmas 2007 (Merry Christmas) HSBC bank begain charging it's customers a $1.50 fee for using other banks ATMs. Those ATMs appear to have raised their fees also to $3.00 for each transaction. These are enormus increases (33 1/3%). That is a total of $4.50 for accessing your own money. This could really put a big dent in your checking account if you are the type of person to use ATMs often, which it seems most people today are. The banks incouraged us to use ATMs over the years and now are sticking it to us. What a surprise. HSBC has a history of shoving it to it's customers also. All their Credit card companies stick it to you after you fall for their 0% for so many months then hit you with the max within a year. Watch out for GM card services, Orchard Bank and Household Bank, all HSBC affiliates usually out of Las Vegas. It appears to be time soon for a modern day Boston Tea party.
