Phantom Overdraft Fees - Stealing Money - It's Criminal

A class action suit must be brought against Wachovia. Needless to say, there is no doubt that Wachovia used the holidays shopping with check cards and online purchases as a gimmick to drive up their bottom line.

I make most of my purchases with a check card. During my holiday shopping (2 week period from December 10-23) I had somehow compiled a long list of check card "holds" that took about a week to process. According to them, it automatically deducts the holds against my account to show my AVAILABLE balance. This is crock. I made a CASH deposit TWICE in those two weeks and Wachovia decided to hold my cash until those purchases on hold went through. This caused a massive trainwreck of overdraft fees. I was charged a total of $350 in overdraft fees.

Wachovia's customer service are the most rude, careless, monkey-trained individuals I have EVER spoken to. First of all, Wachovia's 800 line over the holidays was jammed pack with phone calls, so the waiting time for the overdraft department was about 45 minutes before I even got to speak with the correct representative. When I finally got through I asked the representative if she had any idea how long I had been trying to get through. After being cut off twice in a transfer and on hold, it was a total of 2 1/2 hours. She replied with attitude "We are having a high volume of calls"... Well, I wonder why. I realized I'm not the only person Wachovia is trying to screw over during the holidays.

I never got all my money back, they refused. I got a courtesy refund of $105. Apparently to the rep I was speaking with a courtesy refund is "a partial refund, never a full refund, that they don't even need to do." And this is the customer service number I called??!

I took my losses and on December 24, Christmas Eve, I tracked down a Wachovia branch that was open and immediately closed my account. There was absolutely no way I was going to let them think up more reasons to charge more phantom fees to my account.

I would like to join a class action suit. This has been done to enough people, it needs to be stopped.
