I understand charging me for overdrafts fee. I make a mistake, I will pay; But, the new laws allowing banks to charge those fees twice for one transaction, is (or should be) criminal.
They now charge you the $33.00 overdraft fee on PENDING charges... And then charge you $33.00 AGAIN when the charge clears. Now, because of this double charging, I will get $66.00 taken out of my account, often causing a whole mess of other charges because of the deficit.in the last 6 months, I have had over $700.00 in overdraft fees... From two miscalculations on my part.
I am more than willing to pay for my mistakes; but, this is excessive. The people this targets are those of us who, unfortunately, are living with $3.00 in our bank accounts and pinching those pennies as tight as possible.
I had read that this new policy was being fought... Does anyone have any information about this? And does anyone know of a bank or credit union NOT doing this?
